Job description
Job Purpose :
The role of the Instructional Designer is to design, develop, and deliver engaging and pedagogically sound learning experiences for distance and online learners. The incumbent will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), faculty, and content teams to translate academic material into effective, learner-centric instructional designs. This includes creating multimedia-based Self-Learning Materials (SLMs), e-learning modules, and other digital resources aligned with institutional standards, regulatory requirements (UGC/AICTE/DEB), and the learner engagement strategy of CDOE.
Key Responsibilities :
Instructional Design & Development
- Collaborate with SMEs and faculty to analyze learning needs, define learning objectives, and design structured instructional frameworks.
- Develop engaging, interactive, and pedagogically effective content for online and blended delivery (SLMs, e-learning modules, videos, job aids, quizzes, simulations, etc.).
- Apply established instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Bloom’s Taxonomy) to ensure alignment of learning outcomes with course objectives.
- Create detailed storyboards, scripts, and prototypes to communicate instructional flow and multimedia integration.
Content Integration & Technology Application
- Utilize authoring tools and learning management systems (LMS) to create and publish digital content (e.g., Articulate, Captivate, H5P, or equivalent).
- Work closely with multimedia and graphic design teams to integrate visuals, audio, video, and animations that enhance learning experience.
- Ensure instructional materials meet accessibility and usability standards (WCAG, responsive design, etc.).
Quality Assurance & Review
- Conduct content reviews and functional testing to ensure instructional accuracy, design consistency, and technical reliability.
- Incorporate faculty and learner feedback into content revisions to continuously improve instructional quality and engagement.
- Maintain version control and documentation of course materials for audits and future reference.
Collaboration & Innovation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (academics, IT, media, and quality assurance) to ensure seamless course delivery.
- Research and recommend new instructional technologies, tools, and methods to enhance learner engagement and retention.
- Stay current with trends in online learning, digital pedagogy, and emerging ed-tech solutions to continuously innovate the learning experience.

Requirements- Skills & Competencies :
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with an impeccable command of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Creative mind-set with the ability to generate original ideas and think outside the
- Keen eye for detail and appreciation of great design
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
- Basic HTML and Flash programming knowledge
- Visual design skills (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboard
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
- Proficiency in using instructional design tools and authoring software (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, LMS platforms).
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and their functionalities.
Requirements- Education & work experience :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education, or a related
- Proven experience of 5-8 yrs in instructional design and development, preferably in a corporate or educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of instructional design principles, theories, and methodologies.
